1. Acceptance

These terms are an agreement between you and Wild Synapse Private Limited, a private company limited by shares incorporated in India under the Companies Act, 2013, with its registered office in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

By creating an account or using our software, you agree to these terms. If you are agreeing on behalf of an institution or employer, you confirm you are authorised to bind them. If you do not agree, do not use the software.

2. Permitted use

Our products are intended for scientific research, biodiversity monitoring, wildlife survey analysis, environmental impact assessment, conservation practice and education. In using them you agree to:

We take the second point seriously. Accounts used to target protected species will be terminated and, where appropriate, reported.

3. Ownership of your data

You retain full ownership of your recordings, annotations, measurements, species determinations, trained models and reports. We claim no licence over them beyond what is needed to store and display them back to you, and to provide support when you ask for it.

We own the software itself. You get a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use it under these terms.

You can export your work in open formats at any time. We consider the ability to leave a feature, not a concession.

4. Tiers and fees

Basic — free

The Basic tier is free, and is available only to:

Basic is for individual work. It is not licensed for consultancy, contract research, impact assessment, or any work carried out for a fee or on behalf of a client, an employer or a government body — whoever is doing it. Eligibility is by the nature of the work, not by job title.

Professional — paid

Professional is required for all commercial and institutional use, and carries the advanced capabilities. It is the tier for consultancies, industry, government departments, and universities and institutes licensing on behalf of their people.

CapabilityBasicProfessional
Project capacityUp to 50 calls per projectUnlimited, multi-gigabyte datasets
Batch processingSingle-file inspection1,000+ files in one run
Project management—Full project and team management
Frequency rangeFull spectrum on both tiers — infrasound to ultrasonic
Spectrogram2D2D and 3D, higher resolution
Review workflowSingle observerMulti-user blinded review and sign-off
Regulatory and EIA reporting—Included
Cloud workspace and sync—Included
SupportCommunityDirect support with response targets
The full frequency range is on both tiers.

Analysis from infrasound through to ultrasonic is available to every user, including Basic. A student working on bat echolocation or elephant rumbles should not be locked out of the frequencies their species uses. What Professional adds is scale, collaboration and reporting — not access to the spectrum.

Capabilities within each tier may change as the product develops. Where a change materially reduces something you pay for, section 5 applies.

Institutional licences

A university, institute, department or organisation may purchase Professional seats and allocate them to its students, researchers and faculty. Seats are managed from an institutional console: the licence holder adds and removes people, and a seat can be reassigned when someone leaves.

Work done under an institutional seat is covered by that licence, including funded and contract research. For institutional pricing, write to contact@wildsynapse.com.

Fees

PlanFee
BasicFree
ProfessionalUSD 99 per seat per year, billed annually
InstitutionalBy agreement, based on seat count
No charge until paid billing begins.

Professional billing is currently planned to commence in the first half of 2027. Until then there is no charge. We will give existing account holders at least 60 days' notice by email before any charge applies, and nobody will be billed without first choosing a paid plan.

Fees exclude applicable taxes. Prices may change with 60 days' notice; a change never applies to a term you have already paid for.

If we find that an account is using Basic for commercial or institutional work, we will contact you and give you a reasonable opportunity to move to the correct tier before taking any other step.

5. Refund policy

We would rather you stopped paying for something you are not using than feel trapped by it.

When we refund beyond 30 days

How to request one

Email support@wildsynapse.com from the address on the account. We will acknowledge within 2 working days and decide within 10. Approved refunds go back to the original payment method, typically within 5 to 10 working days depending on your bank.

Hardware, where sold, is covered separately by the terms supplied with the order.

6. Scientific accuracy disclaimer

This section matters more than most. Please read it.

Verify before you publish.

Automated detection, measurement and classification are aids to a trained observer, not a substitute for one. You remain responsible for verifying every measurement and every species determination you rely on, before publication, before submission to a regulator, and before any decision that affects a species or a site.

AURA is under active development, and its analysis modules are at different stages of validation. We publish what each module does and how it has been validated. Where a module has not yet been validated against reference recordings, we say so rather than implying otherwise.

If you are preparing work for publication, a permit application or a statutory assessment, contact us about the validation status of the specific measurements you intend to rely on. We will tell you plainly. If we have not validated something, we will say that too.

Acoustic identification has genuine limits that no software removes. Species overlap in call structure, recordings vary with distance, orientation, weather and equipment, and some groups cannot be separated on acoustics alone. Treat an automated determination as a hypothesis.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The software is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the software will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular result will be accurate or complete.

Nothing in these terms excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential loss, nor for loss of data, loss of profit, loss of a field season, missed regulatory deadlines, or decisions taken in reliance on an unverified automated result.

Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or USD 100 where you paid nothing.

Keep your own backups of irreplaceable field data. We take care with your work, but nothing substitutes for a copy you control.

9. Availability and changes

We do not promise a service level. We may take the service down for maintenance, and will give notice where we reasonably can. We may add, change or withdraw features; where a change materially reduces something you pay for, section 5 applies.

10. Suspension and termination

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, particularly section 2, or where required by law. Except in cases of serious misuse, we will give you notice and a reasonable opportunity to export your data first.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka have exclusive jurisdiction, except that we may seek injunctive relief in any competent court. Where mandatory consumer protection law in your country gives you rights that cannot be overridden by contract, those rights continue to apply.

We would rather resolve a dispute by talking. Write to us first and we will engage in good faith.
